• Question: hi,i was wondering how much dose your pulse speed up when you do skipping.if you can't awnser it doesn't matter.

      Hi Tess!
      Skipping is a brilliant exercise! However how much your pulse increases is totally individual, so if I did some skipping (I’d look stupid, but apart from that) my pulse might raise less than yours does or more.
      The reasons for this are many, for example, my heart will be much bigger than yours and stronger, this is because I’m a man and 25 years old, so it is probably a lot stronger to pump a greater volume of blood (and therefore oxygen) to my working muscles, so the speed doesn’t need to increase, just the stroke volume (the amount of blood pumped out each time our hearts beat). Also my muscles are different to yours. So we have different oxygen requirements. If our muscles need more oxygen they feed back to our heart to pump faster and harder. So again its all different depending on the person!
