Awesome question and I hope this event and all the scientists in this competition can inspire you to want to be a scientist!
Firstly you need to have a knowledge of science, this starts in school with GCSEs and A levels then you need to decide on an area of science which interests you the most and you can hopefully go to do a degree at University in your chosen area. I personally did my degree in Physiology and Pharmacology, so how the human body works and how it reacts to things we put in it like drugs and medicines.
Choose whatever you’re most interested in, because then you will be much more willing to learn about that area. No use doing something you find really boring!
Then you can apply for jobs in labs with your new knowledge or go on further to study for a PhD like I am. Once you have that, you’ll be like Emma, Damian or Alan (AKA My Boss!). The possibilities are endless!
Take a look at this website, this could help you out: http://www.careerinscience.co.uk/index.html

      Best of luck to you!

      Liam
